Thanks to a 2013 planning grant from the City of Boston, the Training Field Cultural Resources Plan formed a FY 2015 Mayor’s budget request of $629,330 to rehabilitate the historic park. City Council voted complete authorization and appropriation in June 2014 for a landscape architecture firm to begin a formal scope of services and contract documents over the fall and winter; the first community meeting dates on March 10, 2015 outlined with proposed scope of work. Construction based on the final scope will follow in the summer of 2015. CPS worked with the Boston Parks Department, the Friends of the Training Field and the grant consultants to identify needed improvements to the much-used greenspace in the Charlestown Training Field.
