Have you ever wondered about the history of your house?

Your home has a story to tell. Find out when your home was built, who built it, who lived there and how they may have altered it. Tracing the history of an old house can be a challenging – yet fascinating – journey.
Anyone who takes this challenge on will be greatly rewarded!

 

Join us virtually on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:30 AM

for a short presentation on “How to Research Your Historic House”
followed by a Q&A session with CPS’s researchers. 
This session will help you navigate the research process with the ultimate goal of establishing its original build date. Along the way, you will discover the names and occupations of the families that cared for your home throughout its history.

Apply for a Historic House Marker

CPS issues Bronze Historic Markers to historic buildings in Charlestown.
These markers are a unique way to recognize a historic building and share its history.
Application period open now through June 30.

$325 members / $350 for non-members, $495 includes CPS research.

Since its inception, CPS has approved and installed over 250 Historic Markers on distinguished buildings in Charlestown. CPS accepts applications once a year, with a due date of June 30th and installation dates expected in the fall. We have a limited number of markers available every year, with only a few left for install in the fall of 2021. Don’t delay, apply as soon as you are able so that you don’t miss out!
