BIENNIAL HOUSE TOUR

Join us on Saturday, September 21, 11 AM – 4 PM, for our Charlestown House Tour

The biennial, self-guided tour of neighborhood homes celebrates a long tradition of preservation in Charlestown. From its first tour over 40 years ago, Charlestown homeowners have generously opened their homes and buildings on a crisp fall Saturday in September.

One of the joys of walking around Charlestown is the endless sense of discovery. The private houses and public spaces you’ll see range from grand mansions to restored traditional row houses. You will experience a happy mix of styles as you travel on some of Charlestown’s oldest streets. While most of the homes were built in the nineteenth century, they have been restored and remodeled to accommodate how families live today.

The self-guided tour provides an inside look into eight neighborhood houses each located within the Harvard Mall, Training Field, and Monument Square neighborhoods. Purchase tickets at the link below, pick up the tour map between 11 AM and 2 PM at the Training Field (near Place & Gather, 26 Common Street), and tour each of the houses at your own pace.

The House Tour is the Charlestown Preservation Society’s main vehicle for funding. We have been a 501c3 since 1979 and all ticket sales and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

All proceeds benefit the Charlestown Preservation Society, further enabling our mission of protecting our historic architecture and landscapes, advocating for preservation, guiding responsible development and educating people about the unique character of our community.
